The Copthorne Refurbishment afforded a unique set of challenges for the team at North Shore Scaffolding.
The first challenge was to build a 30-meter high scaffold over the top of a working cafe that was going to remain open during the installation. To do this North Shore Scaffolding first installed engineered brackets on the wall of the Copthorne Hotel. We then built a series of two-lift scaffolds towers in the Copthorne car park. On the weekend when the cafe was closed we organised a crane lift to install the scaffolding. We were able to keep the scaffolders from standing under the live load by utilising the already installed scaffold on the back of the building. The 30m high scaffold was installed within a day and no interruption to the cafe and its clients were required.
The second challenge was to build another 30m high scaffold without touching the ground, as time-critical groundworks were required. North Shore Scaffolding was able to use the Layher CAD Design program and Technical Design data to build a cantilever design, enabling the scaffold to be built and groundwork to continue.
North Shore Scaffolding used the following resources for this project:
- Layher Allround Scaffolding System
- Shrink Wrap
- Layher CAD Design
- Health & Safety Systems
