Super Yacht 'A'

Marine scaffold installed to allow paintwork across two-thirds of the hull.

When the super yacht ‘A’ came to New Zealand for a refit, we were commissioned to scaffold two-thirds of the hull for repainting — including touch-free access over the massive stern, suspended from the decks down to the waterline.

The hull sat seven metres from deck level to the sea, so the scaffold was hung from the decks and tiered down to water level to give the painters clear, continuous access. Layher’s system let us cantilever and step the levels precisely around the stern without touching the paintwork.

The painting crew was a specialist team flown in from Europe, which made the schedule unforgiving — any delay carried real cost. The scaffold was built to keep them working without interruption.
